Transition into Spring

DSC_0093edit
In traditional midwest form, the beautiful weather that warranted sandals last weekend, has called for more traditional February attire today. The little bit of chill in the air, instantly put me in a cozy sweater mood. I especially love the neutral tones of this chunky knit sweater, because it pairs with just about anything and especially with a chic cargo jacket. With the sun still shining, a peep toe mule made this outfit a perfect look for the transition into spring. How are you handling all these weather mood swings?

Winter Beauty Essentials

Winter Esstentials CollageHappy Monday everyone! Today on the blog I’m sharing my winter beauty essentials. Despite the unseasonably warm weather we had this past weekend, these four items are an absolute MUST for surviving the dry winter season.

  1. Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream- This cream is so awesome for anyone with dry skin. It’s heavy enough to provide all day moisture, but not so heavy that it makes your skin feel greasy. Plus you can use it on your face and body (one less bottle to lug around)!
  2. Lush Lip Scrub- I don’t know about any of you, but unfortunately winter often brings about chapped lips from all of the dry and cold winter air. This lip scrub is perfect battling any dry or flaky skin before putting on any lipstick to ensure a smooth, beautiful application.
  3. Davines Oi/Oil- I know there are a lot of hair oils to choose from, but after trying many of them, this one is my absolute favorite. First off, the smell is incredible! This oil is also super light, so you can apply it to your ends daily to keep them protected from the dry winter air. After I apply this to my ends, I run my palms over the rest of my hair to help contain fly-aways for the day, another great use! The bottle also seems to last forever, even when you do use it daily.
  4. Vaseline- If you aren’t a Vaseline user yet, you need to hurry out and get some. This stuff has so many different uses I can’t even begin to list them all, but I use this as a makeup remover, overnight moisturizer on dry spots, and as a lip balm. Since Vaseline is just petroleum jelly, you don’t have to worry about fragrance or dyes that can irritate sensitive skin.

Sandals in February

Hi everyone! Kansas has had absolutely beautiful weather the past couple of days, and for me, that meant breaking out some open-toed shoes and some lighter layers. While I think it’s still a little soon for shorts, a lightweight olive linen pant and chambray tunic were a perfect combination for a day spent downtown.

I also need to rave about these new olive pants. I recently purchased them from Target’s new Who What Wear collection, and could not be more in love. They’re super lightweight (perfect for the transition between seasons), comfortable and the fabric looks great! They also come in black. Keep an eye out for my other pieces I’ve purchased from the Who What Wear line this week on the blog.

A Kansas City Valentine’s Day

Hey everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful Valentine’s Day weekend and that you were able to spend it with people you love. This weekend, Jason and I did a lot of celebrating with those we loved. On Valentine’s Day after having a lovely seafood brunch at home, we celebrated our love day at Boulevard Brewing Company in Kansas City. They did a special Valentine’s Day event at the brewery featuring a beer and chocolate pairings menu with Christopher Elbow Chocolate (another awesome KC original!).

Jason & I enjoying our pairings

As you can see from the photo of the chocolates and beer, these little beauties are works of art so you can believe me when I say the tasting was absolutely incredible. Looking at this post now, I very much wish this was on the agenda again today, instead of class.  Jason and I had a fantastic time, and agreed that it was the perfect way to enjoy a fun and casual Valentine’s Day! Speaking of fun and casual, I’m also sharing my outfit on the blog today. Since the venue was a brewery, I decided to go the more casual route but still wanted to have a splash of red or pink. Here are some photos of my outfit, please feel free to comment and let me know what you think!
