Red, White & Blue

DSC_0348edit DSC_0096edit

One of my favorite things about the 4th is how easy it is to dress festive and still look cute! Red, white and blue are probably my three favorite colors to wear, so having an excuse to put them all together is perfect!

This summer, I’m loving this bright, poppy red color that’s popping up everywhere. It’s just so vibrant and I think it’s a great color on many people! I paired this top with a navy scallop short, because I thought it added a fun element to this look. I also know I’ll be wearing flat sandals on the 4th, because we’re going to be doing a lot of walking at the KawBoom festival in Downtown Lawrence (food trucks, beer & fireworks?! I can’t wait!). What are your 4th of July plans?

Monday Must-Haves: T-Shirt Dress

DSC_0794edit

This Monday Must-Have has probably been one of my most worn items over the past couple of weeks. With the 100 degree heat pretty much everyday, wearing pants or shorts just seems out of the question and uncomfortable. Cue t-shirt dress- it’s casual, light, comfy and can be worn a variety of different ways. I love wearing it with sneakers for when I’m just running errands or doing something more casual, but I also love pairing it with some gladiator sandals for a more dressy casual look. This dress could easily transition from day to night with just a quick shoe change and some accessories!

For this look I went with a bit of a shades of blue theme, from my KC Royals cap to the navy t-shirt dress and denim jacket.  I love being able to throw on a baseball cap during the summer months, because it automatically protects your face from the sun. I think this look would be great for a baseball game, afternoon at the park or an ice cream date! What is your favorite way to wear your t-shirt dress?

P.S. Add some pops of red to this outfit for a comfy & cute 4th of July look!

Shorts, shorts, shorts!

DSC_0919edit DSC_0926edit

Shorts. Probably one of the most dreaded piece of clothing items to shop for, try on or sometimes even wear, but today I’m sharing some tips for choosing the right shorts for you!

  1. Buy the right size-  This is so, so important!! While we all love the idea of reaching for a size 0, unfortunately for most of us that’s not the case, so make sure you’re buying the size that actually fits your body. I’ve been guilty at times of buying a pair and telling myself “oh I’ll fit into these by summer”, not the case. Avoid this frustration and disappointment by just buying the right size! Plus you don’t want to be even more uncomfortable when its 100 degrees outside.
  2. Find the right length- This is another super important key to buying shorts. I know a lot of people who don’t like their legs in short shorts, which is totally fine! Shorts come in all sorts of lengths, so you can find some that are a little longer (without  being the”mom” length) to make you more comfortable and confident.
  3. Pick a style that works for you- There are so many colors, fabrics and patterns out there for you to choose from, you just have to find one that you want! I tend to start with the basics, like your denim short, your black tailored short, white shorts and then mix in a few fun colors.
  4. Pro Tip: Pair with a heel- There is nothing like a short and heel combo to instantly slim and lengthen your legs, and is a great excuse to dust off any of those heels you haven’t worn lately!

Ultimately, I don’t think anyone should be intimidated by shorts, you just have to be confident and find what works best for your body type! I’ve linked up a few styles for you guys to browse if you’d like.

Monday Must-Haves: Chambray Button Down

DSC_0533edit

I’m loving the 90’s vibes that this outfit has today, and such an easy look to put together! I feel a little crazy even listing this as a Monday Must-Have because its SUCH an essential in my closet. The chambray button up is an incredibly versatile, all-season piece that every woman should own. I especially love having it tied around my waist in the summer time, because it makes for an excellent layer to throw on when the AC is blasting indoors.

There are a ton of choices and styles out there if you’re looking to add a chambray top to your own wardrobe. I’ve linked some different styles up in the ‘Shop’ link on the right side of the page, including the exact one I always wear (make sure you’re on a desktop computer to view the ‘Shop’ link).

I’ve also done a round up of a bunch of my prior posts that I’ve worn my Chambray top in, I think it shows just how essential it is to my wardrobe!

This is a very exciting post in All Things Gold (short) history and I’m so thrilled to finally be sharing it with you all. This is my first collaboration and I don’t think I could’ve paired with anyone better than the beautiful Simply Rustic Co.

As many of you can probably tell from my past posts, and all those who know me personally, know that I’m not a huge jewelry person. I tend to steer towards very simple and minimalistic pieces that go with a lot of things but are still beautiful! While this style can sometimes be a little difficult to find, I think it’s safe to say that Simply Rustic Co. fits this description perfectly. Her pieces are beautiful, unique and so affordable!

I love how many things go with this particular necklace, because of the white mother of pearl shell and delicate gold chain. This piece makes for a great summer addition to my jewelry collection. It’s light, delicate and has such a beautiful shimmer. I can’t say enough good things about it. Plus, it came in the most adorable packaging, which I always love & appreciate! (Details to shop the rest of this look can be found on the right side of the page!). Be sure to check out Simply Rustic Co. website, Facebook or Instagram for an even better look at all of her pieces!
